We get a lot of questions about Sebastian's birth family, and I thought I'd take a moment to share with you our thoughts on how we will answer these questions...First of all, we need you to know that we have very little information regarding Sebastian's birth family. (I've also heard adoptive families refer to this as their child's "first family", with the foster family being the "second family" and the adoptive family the "third family"... we haven't decided yet what terminology we will use with Sebastian... that's a decision for another day.)
The information that we do have, however, isn't really ours to share. This is part of Sebastian's life story, and we are merely the guardians of this story. We will share everything we know about Sebastian's birth (or "first") family with him, and it will be his story to share or keep to himself.
So, please don't think us rude if you don't get answers to all of your questions. We probably don't have answers. There are TONS of questions that we would love to have answers to, but we just don't have a lot of information. Those questions that we could answer, we will need to respectfully decline to answer. When he's older, Sebastian will decide how much and in what manner he wants to share (or keep private) the information that we do have.
Today's picture is from our trip in November. Sebastian LOVED riding in this umbrella stroller that was a gift from our friend Rob's mom, Liz. It was kind of a hassle to haul the stroller through the airport, but it was well worth it.
