Mommy, You Talk Now

For the past couple of months, Sebastian has been pretty bossy with me, but mostly he's a pretty sweet little guy. One thing that he does like to say, that kind of annoys me (but is also a little endearing) is, "No Mommy. No Talking. You Gotta Be Quiet." (Yes, I know that capitalizing everything is grammatically incorrect, however, it adds the emphasis that is added by the little man.)

So the other day we were driving, and out of the clear blue, he said to me, "Mommy, you talk now."

My response? "What should I talk about?" (Because if I talk about the wrong thing, I just might get told to be quiet.)

And the answer is....

"Ham Sandwiches."

Of course. Why didn't I think of that? All this time, I could have been free to talk, as long as I talked about ham sandwiches. Unfortunately, I can't think of much to say about ham sandwiches. But at least I have a safe topic now!

Not much to say about ham sandwiches?? For shame! Ham on rye, ham on wheat, ham on white, pit ham, honey ham, hickory smoked ham, ham with swiss, ham with cheddar, ham with muenster, ham with smoked gouda, lettuce, tomata and sprouts (yum!)...

See there's all kinds of things to talk about with ham sandwiches!

I responded that I like cheese on my ham sandwiches...

Then he said, "I like hot dogs."

So I said, "I like pizza."

He said, "I like tacos."

And so on, and so on, and so on...
