One day, I saw a t-shirt that I almost bought for the little man - it had a picture of a guitar on the front, and on the back, it said "Potty like a rock star."
Many years ago, a certain little sister of mine did not want to give up her diapers. I recall very clearly that one morning, after I had worked the overnight shift at the nursing home and I was trying to go to sleep, I heard her screaming at my mother: I WANT MY DIAPERS BACK!
I said then, and I'll say it again now: anyone who can say that doesn't really need to be in diapers anymore.
So what we have today is a little boy who, well... let's just say that even though I agree with what I said all those years ago, I can finally understand why my mother didn't push it even harder with my little sister.
We went through a phase where it was really cool to sit on the potty, but now... not so much. So I hear things like, "No, Mommy. You're not changing my diaper." And I hope that one day soon, he'll realize that it is so much more comfortable to wear dry pants.
What finally worked with the above-mentioned little sister was a combination of two incentives - first, she got to hold a ceramic kitty when she sat on the potty, and second... I took her picture. She loved having her picture taken, and if I would take her picture, she would be perfectly willing to sit on the potty. So there is a lot of evidence. I don't have a ceramic kitty, but I do have a digital camera. Given how often the little man likes to have his picture taken, that just might be an option. Don't expect to see those pictures posted here, though. That's just too weird and creepy.
