This year, the tournament coincided with Holy Week (and Spring Break), and well... ever since Sebastian came home, we've been pretty busy. We didn't follow the team quite as closely this year as we have in the past, and we even though we had our tickets to the tournament, we didn't really plan on going to many of the games. Then last weekend, the Gophers beat Mankato... so it was on. We had to find a baby-sitter for Sebastian for Thursday night. Mind you, most of the people that we would count of for babysitting should be in church on Holy Thursday. (Heck, we should be in church for Holy Thursday). So we e-mailed all of the grandparents and aunts&uncles that live reasonably close... And the only one available to babysit on such short notice was Grandma Judy, but... she had been planning on going to church. She was willing to change her plans if we couldn't find anyone else...
Meanwhile, Steve was contacting some of his old friends to see if any of them were interested in going to the game. We thought that one of them was going to go, so we didn't take Grandma Judy up on her offer. Then, at the last minute, plans changed. So I said, "This might be a really bad idea, but..." and we were off...
Sebastian had an absolutely wonderful time at his first Gopher game. Even though he was pretty tired by the end of the game, he was interested in the game the whole time. I tried to get him to sleep during the 3rd period, but he was more interested in what was happening. His favorite part? The "truck" on the ice between periods (the zamboni - truck is his new favorite word!)
The Gophers beat St. Cloud State 3-2.
It was an amazing evening. Turns out that every now and then, I have a good idea!
